Mandalay
Mandalay, the last capital of the Myanmar Kings, is located in the central Myanmar, 668 km north of Yangon.Also known as Ratanabon-nepyidaw ( meaning Gem City ), it was built in 1857 by King Mindon. Today, it is the second largest city boasting its rich cultural heritage. It is also the commercial centre with rail, road, river and air links to all parts of the country.

Mawlamyine
Mawlamyine, a charming town, is the capital of Mon State,situated at the mouth of the Thanlwin River ( salween river ). It is easily accessible by road and rail from Yangon. Sites to see in Mawlamyine are Kyaikthanlan, Uzena, caves of Kawgoon and Payon, famous for its countless Bouddha images, stalagmites and stalactites.
Kyaikkhami Pagoda, perched on the rocks by the sea and joined to the land by a covered causeway, is the main attraction.
About 34km from Mawlamyine is Thanbyuzayet, an Allied War Mermorial Cemetery for the prisoners of war who lost their lives in the buildings of the famous Death Railway across the River Kwai.
Dawei ( Tavoy ), Myeik ( Mergui ) and Thaninthyi, are the famous towns on the Thaninthayi Coast ( Tennaserim ) which can be visited by guided tours with special permission.

Mingun
Mingun, located about 11 km upriver from Mandalay on the western banks of Ayeyawaddy River, is the town well-known for its 90 ton Mingun Bell, the largest ringing bell in the world; a mammoth unfinished Mingun Pagoda; Settawya Pagoda, and Hsinbyume Pagoda.

Mogok
Mogok est située dans la célèbre " vallée des rubis" évoquée par Kessel dans son ouvrage du même nom.115 km nord-est de Mandalay. Only packaged tours are allowed to visit mogok with special permission.


Monywa
About 136 km to the west of Mandalay is Monywa, the commercial centre of Chindwin Valley. Sites to see in Monywa are Than-bok-de PAgoda with over 500,000 Buddha Images, Bodhi-ta-htaung ( one thousand Bo trees ), Ledi Kyaungteik monestary where Buddhist scriptures are inscribed on 806 stone slabs and Kyaukka village known for its own style of Lacquerware.

Mt. Popa
Some 50 km southeast of Bagan. Mt.Popa 1500 metres high, is an extinct volcano. It is the legendary home of the nats or sprits. The Mount Popa area has also been designated as a National Park, a perfact place for eco-tourism.

Mrauk-U
This 15th century ancient city of Rakhine Kingdom is known for its old temples with wall paintings of Indian cultural influence. A regular passenger boat takes hours from sittwe (Akyab ) to Mrauk-U . Special speed boat with 20 seats takes only 2 1/2 hours . It is also accessible by road from Sittwe via Ponnakyun and Kyauktaw . The Mahamuni Shrine , one of the famous pagodas in Myanmar , is situated 30km from Mrauk -U . there is a 24 room bungalow type hotel for tourists. Regular flights from Yangon to Sittwe takes about one hour 30 minutes . Sittaung Pagoda , Andawthein Shrine are some of the sites to see in Mrauk-U.

Myitkyina
Myitkyina is the largest town in Kachin State. From Myitkyina, visiters can tour the confluence ( Myitsone ) of Maikha and Malikha, the source of the Ayeyawaddy River. There are regular flights from Yangon and Mandalay to Myitkyina.

Ngapali Beach ( Thandwe )
Located on the rakhine Coast near Thandwe (Sandoway ) . Ngapali is one of the beautiful beaches in Myanmar. This is unspoilt beach is 35 minute flight from Yangon . By overland , it is 14 hours drive along the narrow winding road over the rakhine Yoma (mountain range) after crossing the AyeryarwaddyRiver at Pyay (prome) . There isan 18-hole Golf Course , located 15 minutes drive from the beach . A wide choice of the hotel from first class Bay View Hotel and Sandoway Beach Resort to standard Ngapli Beach , and silver Beach .
